Welcome to the School the World Blog!

We have a nickname for the students who join us on a service learning trip. We call them World Changers. We call them World Changers because of their passion, global responsibility, and because of their new found ability to drive change. These students pledge to collectively raise the funds to build a school for children living in extreme poverty in Guatemala. They give up their spring break and travel abroad to complete the school. They paint walls, mix cement, install plaques and more.

This year School the World started the Clifford-Lawler Scholarship Fund through which we awarded five Guatemalan students with the opportunity to continue their schooling in secondary school. A lack of financial resources often precludes these students from studying past the sixth grade. Wendy and Maria Christina are two of the students who are graduating from Rio Mactzul and will be heading to secondary school and they are so excited to be able to continue their education.
