We cannot begin this new year without acknowledging how noteworthy 2019 was!

It was one of our best years yet and it would not have been possible without YOU, our loyal supporters.

So before we dive into 2020, we want to share snapshots of our top 2019 highlights, all made possible by your support!

Strengthening Our Impact

Throughout the last year we have worked hard to expand our programming to include early childhood development and lower secondary school. We began our new lower secondary school programming in 2019 providing 148 adolescents with the opportunity to continue their education in lower secondary school and we plan to double that by early 2020. We've added a new early childhood learning expert to our team and will be launching early childhood programming over the next few months.

6 Trips | 227 World Changers | 11 Schools

Last year brought our Global Citizenship Program to the next level! Besides exceeding our numbers of World Changers, 2019 also included trips made possible through partnering with companies and other organizations.

In addition to our partnership with Ron Burton Training Village, we also hosted youth leaders from In A Perfect World. This allowed us to expand our reach of World Changers and inspire more U.S. high school students to create change. We also partnered with Board Member Nicole Sahin's company, Globalization Partners, who sponsored a group of 10 U.S. students to travel to Guatemala. For many it was their first time on a plane.

This year we also hosted our 2nd corporate trip to Guatemala, which included employees from Flywire, Envisage International, IMGlobal and IvyWise LLC. We can't wait to host our 3rd corporate trip this March!

Welcome To Panama!

One of the most exciting aspects of 2019 was our announcement of expanding into Panama! We have been on the ground in Panama for almost a year and we can't wait to bring our World Changers this February and share this beautiful country with you all!

10th Anniversary!

In September we celebrated School the World's 10 years of bringing quality education to children living in extreme poverty. Through our social campaigns we got to share some great "throwback" memories and, our favorite part, we got to hear from all of you about your favorite moments with School the World!

Additionally, our awesome Facebook supporters came together and, in just one week, fundraised to provide a playground for Las Brisas, a community in Honduras that has been asking for a playground for years!

The celebration continued through October at our first-ever Gala! Co-chaired by Madeleine Capino, Board Member Nicole Sahin of Globalization Partners and Mike Massaro of Flywire, it was an INCREDIBLE night honoring Dr. Shefali Tsabary as a Champion for Children and celebrating 10 years of School the World.

100 Schools!

Because of our incredible supporters, we were able to reach our 2020 goal of 100 schools and 10,000 students a year ahead of time by our 10th birthday! We are so grateful for the generous individuals who helped us reach this momentous milestone! 

The Book Club

At the end of 2019 we announced a new way for donors to get involved; The Book Club. Monthly giving provides our supporters with a way to join a powerful global community dedicated to making an impact all year long, without breaking the bank! For just $5 a month, our book club members make sure that children living in extreme poverty can experience the joy of reading. Each month they receive an exclusive update on their inspiring impact.
