School the World Stories

A Night of Thanks!

Thanks to all who came out to celebrate with us at our 7th Annual School The World fundraiser last week. We were lucky to have our friends at Eaton Vance host again this year, and the weather was perfect to enjoy their lovely outdoor terrace. It was a beautiful night where we enjoyed cocktails, great appetizers and a stunning view of Boston, along with a fantastic silent auction!

This year we honored a few people who have meant so much to STW.

Linda working hard.

Linda Fontana is a good friend/volunteer to STW and has been coming on the Student Service Learning Trips since the beginning. She is like part of our family. Kate said it best, "'Nurse Linda' has contributed countless hours and vacations to support our student service travelers in Guatemala. She nurses students and parents (worried from home and chaperoning trips!) and everyone loves her!"

NOT only is Linda a wonderful nurse, she also is a terrific painter, cement mixer and she is a force to be reckoned with on the soccer field! So once again, thank you Linda for all that you do!

Next we were thrilled to honor and thank the local Boston ad agency, Brand Content, who gave so much of their time and talent to create the video Journey. The video tells a story of a young boys' 2.5 hour journey to school every day. The video Brand Content created is inspirational and has touched all who have watched it. We are overwhelmed by the outcome and how much exposure it has gotten. If you haven't seen this inspirational video yet please take a minute to watch and share!

Meg, Anabelle, Natalie, Hannah & Olivia

Lastly, we were so proud that four of our Student Service Learning high school students spoke in front of a full crowd at the event about their individual experiences in Guatemala. Ally, Meg, Olivia and Anabelle spoke eloquently about what their experience meant to them and how they feel it affected them.

Looking forward to next years event already!
