It has been a month since I have been in Guatemala and I can easily say I think about the village of Chitchur II everyday. The community I visited taught me more about life then I could have ever imagined. Initially when I got to the community I was overwhelmed and nervous, but the children welcomed us with open arms. The families of the community were so enthusiastic to be able to have a new school and an improved education. This really taught me to appreciate the opportunities and education that I have. Another privilege I had was the assurance that there is real happiness in the world. Back in Maryland you rarely see real happiness and people usually feel "happiness" from items or money, but this community showed me that real happiness comes from different people and places. This opportunity has also given me 10 new best friends that I can count on for anything. I would like to thank the village of Chitchur II for opening my eyes to a new view on life.
