Emma Taylor, Fairfield CT

Herlin is one of my best friends in Guatemala, I met her two years ago. I sincerely hope that she goes on to be a strong and educated woman as she grows up. She was the first one to recognize me this year, which took me aback, since I was not as close to her as I was with some other students last year. The two of us became fast friends when when she found out I loved to dance. On the last day, during the dedication ceremony, she gave me one of her bracelets and told me how much she appreciated the school, and that she wanted me to come visit her again next year. Seeing how much the kids love to learn makes me feel so grateful for the experiences I’ve had in Guatemala. This year I saw so much growth in the school and in the community, and I know that every single one of those students has a bright future waiting for them.
