Gillian Ellis is a junior at Lauralton Hall in Milford, CT. She made her first trip to Guatemala in February.

I would have to say that this is definitely one of my favorite pictures from this trip to Guatemala. This was taken on the last day in the community. It was a very exciting and happy day, even though almost all of us cried by the end of it. This picture was taken just after the school's dedication ceremony and I love it so much because it is a picture of us with a lot of the kids that we got to know throughout the week. Unfortunately not everyone is in it, but it really shows how close we all became and how much this week meant to us. The picture holds a lot of memories, both happy and sad. We had to leave the kids that day, however, we were able to really see how much our presence and work in that community affected them. It was very rewarding to see how grateful people were for us being there. This is going to sound cliché, but I really would not exchange this experience for anything in the world. It would be impossible for me to forget about everything thing we did that week and I can’t wait to go back next year!
