*** Abby Long is a freshman at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA. This is her second year traveling with School the World.***

When we first arrived in the community, I was nervous about meeting the children. I had spent the last six months **fundraising, preparing, and anticipating this**. I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to communicate with the children, and that I would be unable to make any kind of bond or friendship with them. Only seconds after stepping out of the School the World van into the community, **all these worries disappeared**. The children came right up to us and we were able to form great friendships. Even though **I have never taken a day of Spanish classes**, I was still able to communicate with them through simple smiles and gestures. One of my favorite of all the kids in the community was a little boy named Juan Carlos. He was always the first to approach us and kept us all laughing throughout the trip. This picture shows Juan Carlos and I painting one of the classrooms in the school. This was one of my **favorite moments** of the entire trip, because not only was I  spending time with one of the children, but I was also assisting in the **building of the school** that will give that child a brighter future.
